I'll be off to Paris in a few hours... Till 2007 my friends!
This was an unscheduled sketch which started as a warm up... decided to finish it with a little bit of story.
Yay! 1 down and a couple more to go!Baby Totoros were spotted in the forest earlier...
I must apologize for the criminal lack of updates in November.
Work has been rather hectic lately with some pretty tight deadlines. Besides that, a slew of awesome games just came out in time for Christmas, so quite a bit of my time has been spent.... "researching".
No more excuses... I've got a few WIP pieces that I hope to finish by the end of the year.Till then, hope the holidays bring you no worries...
Overcast day in Long Beach. Man, ships are hard to paint!
Trying to remember what I saw on the freeway this morning.
6 x 9 Monochrome Studies. Hmm... Straight-out-of-the-tube Burnt Umber isn't all that dark.
Sunday morning at the beautiful campus.
Broke off from the group early and did this at the Cafeteria Lawn.Robh is at the forefront of a Digital Landscape Revolution!I feel like a dinosaur with me old gouache and oil sets... :)
I really was just sketching a seascape.... then the Dragons showed up...
Work's kinda slow lately... time for a quick paint!
Been listening to the Shadow of Colossus Soundtrack...Here is my re-intepretation of that fantastic game.
Quickie before bed! Didn't put in the fireflies till the end... thought the image needed that little bit of punch...
Speedy after lunch... maybe too formal no?
20min speedy before work...Stopped at a red light and stared at this spot along Beverly Glen during my morning commute. Can't remember exactly what the sky looked like... The scene was quite contrasty though.. if I remember correctly...
Hola Everyone!I've had this story swirling in my head for some time now. The Adventures of Captain Fishsticks. It's about a girl and her friend exploring the nooks and crannies of an apartment complex like Kowloon Walled City... I have more from this series, will post more!
Graphic Exprimentation continues... Also trying to work out some compositional issues. This was done earlier as part of an island exploration series. Mo' Island images to come.
Remember those blue cows in Laputa? They were so cool. I made mine here more Bison-like...Man, I can paint mountains all day.
I left Hong Kong when I was 8. I tried to recapture what I felt there... the sounds, the weather, the smell.. .ahh, that sewage smell... If only we have smell-o-vision...
Another attempt at a more graphic approach. This one started out as a quickie thumb too.
I figure I'd post some newer stuff on the blog. Trying for a more graphic approach to my work lately.
Did this last year for a homework assignment in Landscape class with Robh. We went to Chinatown to do some field research. Even had Dim Sum for lunch. Honestly, one of the most enjoyable classes I have ever taken. You get to paint on location with your friends, and have Dim Sum... can't really ask for more.Don't think I got the take-home part of the assignment quite right. Doesn't look Chinatown-ish. I was more inspired by Sparth's work at that time.
A quick sketch tribute to the great Miyazaki...Did this after a day of hardcore Sci Fi stuff at work last year...
Here are a couple of images from The Persephone project. Persephone represents Spring and gets kidnapped by Hades to become his urm, slave...
Here are a couple of Dune environments I did last year in Robh Ruppel's Vis Dev class. Arrakis and Caladan.
Hmm, I have a blog now.. schweet!
